Objectives
The National Police Memorial has been established with the following objectives :
To educate the public about the valour, courage and sacrifices of the Policemen.
To inform the public about the contribution of police personnel to various walks of national life with particular reference to sports, UN peacekeeping operations and literature.
To educate about the basic ethos and philosophy of Indian Police and also highlighting the unique nature and traditions of different Police Forces.
To educate both the general public and the Police personnel about the rich and fascinating story of the evolution of Policing in India since the early days of Indian civilisation to the present day.
To inform the visitors about the organisational structure of Indian Police with reference to both state police forces and CAPFs & CPOs. It will also educate the visitors about the constitutional and legal basis of policing in India.
To show-case the weaponry, communication system, uniform, flags and insignias used by various Police Forces of the country.
The museum has a specific section on Police Martyrs including list of Police Heroes who have been decorated with India’s highest gallantry awards such as Ashok Chakra, Shaurya Chakra and Kirti Chakra.
To provide an opportunity to the visitors to develop a conscious connect with the site, with the institution and people in whose memory the structure is built. The NPM attempts to invoke a deep and moving experience and serves as symbol of inspiration for future generations.
To help strengthen the sense of belonging, high moral values, sacrifice and national pride in our citizens.
To arrange and organize Police Commemoration Day Parade at the National Police Memorial site.
To arrange & organize social, cultural, Educational programs including parade, band display, change of guard, beating the retreat etc. to make the National Police Memorial popular amongst general public.
To co-ordinate among various police organisations (CPOs/ CAPFs/ State Police) to organize parade on every Saturday / Sunday at NPM site for general public.
To co-ordinate among various police orgnisations (CPOs/ CAPFs/ State Police) to organize function at NPM on any one day in the year, highlighting the police valour / martyrdoms of their respective police personnel.
To promote, organize and assist for Debates, Essay Competitions, Painting Competitions etc. focusing on Police martyrs, Police – Public relation etc.
To publish books, newsletters, articles etc. on Police martyrs and Police achievements etc. either in print or digital mode and also to encourage and to provide facilities for research and related activities.
To act, if required, as an advisory body to any Government organization or agency.
To study the needs and to promote the setting up of Police Memorials at other locations.
